Liver Transplant Automated Patient Monitoring
Malik requires a liver transplant and undergoes surgery. After surgery, he is transported on a cardiac monitor to the ICU. Once in the ICU, he is monitored and his data is integrated directly into the EHR. While recuperating, he is recruited into a research study. Malik starts to develop changes in his vital signs, captured on the monitor, which sends alarms to the EHR, notifying the appropriate care teams for fast response. The quick response allowed Malik to avoid other costly medical services. Malik is able to recover and is discharged home. He uses an app to track progress in the clinical research study.
Early Colon Screening for Better Outcomes
Brett sees his PCP for possible anemia. A fecal occult blood test comes back positive, and he is referred for a screening colonoscopy. He is on a high-deductible insurance plan, so he discusses concerns about his out-of-pocket cost with his physician prior to deciding he will have the colonoscopy. Upon receiving the colonoscopy, he is diagnosed with colon cancer and referred to an oncologist, who discusses a treatment plan and treatment support options with him and his wife. Brett is scheduled for surgery and chemotherapy. Automatic device integrations ensure correct medication administration and documentation throughout his treatment. Brett works with his oncologist to remain engaged in his care.
